Current Serialized Story

TWIST OF FATE, an eight-chapter serialized story, begins Sunday, April 13, in the Skagit Valley Herald. To order Sunday newspapers, use the order form on this website or e-mail nie@skagitvalleyherald.com.

Story synopsis: On September 27, 2006, a tractor-trailer truck hauling 42 horses to a meat-packing plant overturned near St. Louis, Missouri. The horses were trapped in the wreckage. Twenty-four horses and one hinny, the offspring of a stallion and a female donkey, survived. They were eventually taken to Longmeadow Rescue Ranch near Union, Missouri, for treatment and loving care. One of the horses was pregnant, and this story is told from the perspective of her colt. You can learn more about Longmeadow Rescue Ranch by going to www.longmeadowrescueranch.org.

There will be one chapter published every Sunday for eight weeks (April 13-June 1).
