Thank Your NIE Partner

Every school year, over one hundred businesses and service organizations help the Skagit Valley Herald provide newspapers for area classrooms through the Newspaper in Education (NIE) program.

These businesses and service organizations are called NIE Partners. Each of these supporters deserves to be thanked by teachers and students.

There are many ways to acknowledge the contribution your NIE Partner has made to your classroom. Here are some suggestions:

  1. Send seasonal greeting cards to your NIE Partner.
  2. Have students write letters telling the NIE Partner what they most enjoy reading in their newspapers.
  3. Share samples of newspaper activities your students have done.
  4. Invite the NIE Partner to visit your classroom to observe a newspaper activity.
  5. Send photos of your students with their newspapers.
  6. Have your students create a gigantic poster to be displayed in the NIE Partner’s workplace.
  7. Invite your Partner to attend a school or classroom program.

Whatever you choose to do, knowing that students are benefiting from their newspapers is very meaningful to your NIE Partner.
