Preparing for your Tour!

Students should have some familiarity with newspapers before coming to the Skagit Valley Herald for a tour. If you are not currently receiving the newspaper in your classroom, please register to do so. There is no charge for the newspapers.

It is helpful if your students have questions prepared to ask during their tour. A good way to have them formulate questions is to have students pretend to be reporters and begin each question with Who? What? When? Where? Why? or How? Here are two examples:

1.Who is in charge of the newspaper?
2.Why do newspapers have advertisements?

You are welcome to bring your camera and take photos of your students viewing the printing press or interacting with Skagit Valley Herald employees.

If your students have created their own newspaper, please have them bring a copy to put on display for Skagit Valley Herald employees to enjoy!

Your tour will be designed according to your specific needs and the interests of your students. Please don’t hesitate to let us know what we can do to make your tour a success!
