Traveling Newspaper Kit

The Traveling Newspaper Kit is designed for students in grades 1-4. It contains a variety of newspaper-related books and games to help students understand the value of having the newspaper in our lives.

Of special interest is a notebook titled “Creating the Skagit Valley Herald: A New Adventure Every Day.” The notebook contains photos showing each stage of development as the newspaper is prepared for publication.

Along with the Traveling Newspaper Kit, teachers may wish to use the Traveling Bulletin Board Kit. It contains everything needed for an eye-catching, colorful bulletin board.

Mr. S.V. Herald, a gigantic teddy bear, often accompanies the Traveling Newspaper Kit. Herald is about the same height as an average seven-year-old. He enjoys being a reading buddy, posing for photos, and receiving hugs. Herald takes his journal with him on school visits, and students enjoy writing about his experiences.

Teachers typically borrow the Traveling Kit, Bulletin Board Kit, and Herald for a two or three week period. As a time-saver for teachers, everything is delivered to and picked up from the school.

To schedule the kits and Herald, please call Eileen Woods at 360 416-2182 or e-mail nie@skagitvalleyherald.com.
